Motovun's annual film festival is central Istria's cultural highlight of the year. For fife days in late July this tiny medieval town is transformed into party, mad hub, occasionally patronized by some of the most famous names in this business, a mix between Sundance and Glastonbury. Expect enchanting open air screenings in the historic main square on balmy summer evenings.Established in 1999.with the stated aim of promoting independent films and film originating in countries with modest film industries, this small festival has burgeoned beyond all expectations. It's almost become too big.
